Philton Latortue (Haitian, 1944)

Philton Latortue was born in Port-au-Prince on March 6, 1944. After studying at the Lycée Pétion and taking art classes at the Academie des Beaux-Arts in Port-au-Prince, he joined the Centre d'Art in 1962. His background landscapes are particularly appealing with their colorful attention to detail. He has been exhibited locally and in the U.S. (Haiti Voodoo Kingdom to Modern Riviera by John Allen Franciscus)
