收藏: Pierre-Joseph Valcin (Haitian, 1925-2000)
Pierre-Joseph Valcin was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti; the exact year is unknown. (1925-1927?) and died in 2000. His mother was a seamstress, and his father was a bus driver. The mother of the painter Gérard Valcin raised him. He worked as a mechanic, then as a mason. In the early 1960s, he came to the Hall of Plastic Arts with his half-brother Gérard Valcin, then joined the Art Center in 1966.
Valcin is a naïve painter, very close to nature and his country’s customs. His mysterious “paradise” birds, strange women with red or pink hair, and dreamlike disproportionate flowers make him one of Haiti’s greatest naïve painters.
