收藏: Fernand Pierre (Haitian, 1919-2002)
Fernand Pierre was born on July 1, 1919, in Carrefour, Haiti and he died in 2002. Employed as an engraver, Pierre began working in clay, fashioning little dogs and selling them. In 1947 he heard of the Art Center and traded a few of his clay dogs for some plaster. Then he asked for hardboard and paint, set to work, and became a professional artist. Pierre has taken part in several exhibitions in Haiti and the United States. One of his works is displayed at the Episcopal Church in Port-au-Prince. (Peinture Haitienne/ Haitian Arts by Marie-José Nadal & Gérald Bloncourt, Editions Nathan, 1986) “With an innate feel for composition, Pierre celebrates nature and depicts it in all its bounty”.
