Marie Claude Latortue (Haitian, 1946)

Marie Claude Latortue was born in April 1946 in the Valley of Jacmel. In 1969 she began painting with her husband, the well-known painter Philton Latortue, who introduced her to the Centre d'Art in 1971. Her favorite subjects are landscapes, peasant life scenes, voodoo ceremonies, and paradise in a primitive style.
