Haitian sculptor and painter, Jasmin Joseph was born in 1923 in Grande Riviere, and died in 2005, in Haiti. He began his career as a sculptor, his most striking figures were animals. Upset because his works were being copied Joseph turned to paint. His use of animal tales to point to a moral relates to the traditions of Haitian folklore.
