Sully Obin (Cap-Haitian, 1946-2012)

Sully Obin was born in Cap-Haitian in 1946. Grandson of Philomé Obin, he finished elementary school at College Notre-Dame du Cap but dropped out of high school to apprentice as a shoemaker. At his grandfather's suggestion, he took up painting. (Haiti Voodoo Kingdom to Modern Riviera, pp.123)
