コレクション: Casimir Laurent (Haitian, 1928-1990)
Casimir’s work has been exhibited in Haiti, the United States, England, and Brazil. Collectors have appreciated his stylized crowd scenes, his open-air paintings depicting marketplace activity and leisure pursuits, like cockfighting. His work belongs to the permanent collection of Haitian art of the Figge Art Museum in Davenport, IA, and the Milwaukee Art Museum in Milwaukee, WI. His name is mentioned in major Haitian art books: “Laurent injects rhythm into densely populated market-places and carnivals by using the interplay of colors.” (Peintres Haitiens, Gérald Alexis, Editions Cercle d’Art, 2000). Casimir's paintings are highly imitated; therefore, we strongly recommend that you know your source before you buy one somewhere else!
