コレクション: Casimir Joseph (Haitian, b.1941)
Casimir Joseph was born on March 3rd, 1941, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. In 1961 he joined the Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied with his friend Ludovic Booz. Casimir later left the academy to work full time for "SNEM," then Casimir opened his barbershop, only to paint as a hobby. In 1974, he followed Ludovic Booz's advice to return to painting full time and painted mostly historical scenes before becoming the talented miniaturist he is today. He has exhibited worldwide, and his art is cited in numerous Haitian art books. "Joseph's meticulous and detailed style, mostly in small paintings, make his works extremely precious," states art critic and author Gérald Alexis in his book Peintres Haitiens.
