Self-taught well-known Haitian primitive artist Joseph Jean-Gilles was born in Aquin, Haiti on February 26, 1943. His favorite subjects of tropical landscapes on the myriad flowering forms and rolling hills of Haiti depict the daily scenes of his homeland in an ideal way. He participated in several exhibitions followed, such as at the Afro-American Museum of Harlem. Columbia University, Manhattan Beach, Museum of Modern Art, and, Nader of Haiti Ltd. Art Gallery, without mentioning smaller artistic centers.
