コレクション: Sébastien Jean (Haitian, 1980-2020)
Sebastien Jean was born on March 17, 1980, in Thomassin, Haïti. Self-taught painter and sculptor, encouraged by his mother, Sebastien began drawing and painting at the age of 13, mainly on bamboo stalks. "My work is inspired by crafts, particularly in the choice of the medium, sawdust, coffee grounds, sand," says Sebastien. He found himself on the international scene with the Fondation Agnès b in Paris, 54th Venice Biennale, Global Caribbean III at the Cultural Center of Miami & PIASA in Paris. Sebastien also participated in 2007-2008 in the Haiti-Africa residency organized by the French Institute, with the artist Mario Benjamin's support, curator of this exhibition. His obscure work, of excellent pictorial quality, could be described as neo-expressionist. Sebastien sadly passed away in November 2020.
