About this artist

Juan Plutarco Andujar was a master modern painter born in Monte Cristi, Dominican Republic, in 1931. He studied at the National School of Fine for 4 years and then moved to Europe and the United States when he was still very young to continue with his studies. After graduating in art at the San Fernando Academy in Madrid, Spain, standing out significantly in drawings and watercolors, he also dabbled in the mural's art. Andujar’s art was characterized by the use of its green, blue-gray, and red. He was an excellent portraitist and seascape, the latter style that led him to international fame. He participated in numerous solo and group both national and international exhibitions, and his works are in the hands of collectors and museums worldwide. His art was exhibited in a group exhibition: ¡MERENGUE! In El Museo Del Barrio, East Harlem, NY, this Skin I'm In was mentioned in the New York Times in 2007.

Juan Plutarco Andujar is undoubtedly one of the famous Dominican painters of all time. He passed away in 1995. Today, one can acquire a collection of "Art Café." It consists of coffee cups, ashtrays, plates, and round decorative platters. They are adorned by the painter's works inspired by calm seascapes and the representation of the Dominican people's hard work through their dealers, market vendors, and fishers.
