Description

This is a primitive painting on paper signed by the late Haitian artist, Edouard Wah, the brother of the famous late master, Bernard Wah. This painting represents a village scene in Haiti. It is an original acrylic on paper and dated circa 1980.

About this artist

Edouard was a very prolific artist, capable of changing from abstraction to realism and other styles with ease. He "was born on February 13, 1938 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and died in 2003. After primary school at Petit Seminaire College St. Martial and high school at Lycee Firmin, he began first in ceramics from 1951 to 1953. He stopped to become a dancer and later, from 1957 to 1959, he was an engraver with Industries Nationales Reunies. Since 1959 he has devoted himself to painting. He is married and the father of four children." (Haiti Voodoo Kingdom to Modern Riviera by John Allen Franciscus, 1980)
