"My passion lies in the challenge of capturing the beauty and fragility of the human expression," says Haitian artist Carl Craig, who was born in Haiti in 1951 and moved to New York with his family at 15. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force for more than five years. He pursued a Bachelor of Science in Finance and International Business at Florida International University. After a successful career in the financial markets lasting 16 years, Carl ended his vocation on Wall Street and decided to apply his experience and insight to international consulting.
Despite his successes in the financial markets and as an international consultant, Carl has chosen to walk away from all the power and structure to satisfy his thirst for creativity by unleashing his talent in the arts: painting, photography, and music.
As a self-taught artist, Carl brilliantly and skillfully projects the inspiration he finds in his subjects. His work has been displayed in local and international markets since 2008. In 2015 and 2016, Carl was a semi-finalist in Bombay Sapphire's annual national contest, The Artisans Series.
Carl is internationally celebrated and has exhibited his works in Mexico under a special invitation from the Haitian Ambassador in Mexico City. His artworks have also been shown in Cayenne (formerly French Guiana), again by special invitation from the General Consulate, among many others.
