About this artist
Late Haitian abstract artist Marc Emile Placide, aka Milo Placide, was born in Gonaives on July 5, 1945, and died on July 13, 2018. Milo, an architect with a passion for art, studied at the Galerie Brochette under the direction of Luckner Lazard, Dieudonné Cédor, Geo Ramponneau, and Villard Denis (Davertige.) He also took ceramics lessons with Tiga while painting with Manès. His architectural studies significantly shaped his artistic style, reinforcing his sense of geometric shapes and layout. This multidisciplinary approach is a key aspect of Milo's art. He was a talented artist who loved his country and often supported causes that promoted Haitian culture. Milo was an active Musée d’Art Haitien Support Committee member created by the Toussaint Louverture Cultural Foundation.
